Finally - the best hobby for summer: Camel Riding In Abu Dhabi
In May 2024, we finally reached another major milestone. We sent 5 of our camels to Abu Dhabi, Al Wathba, to be precise. In Linda’s words: “this time, we won’t bring them back.” – which meant, they came to stay, as part of our first official branch of ADCRC – bringing the best hobby of the UAE to Abu Dhabi.
With Tariq, Abu Dhabi has now an experienced coach. He has been teaching most of our race riders since 2021, and he is back to continue his work here in al Wathba.
Opening Abu Dhabi feels like a Deja-vu of opening Dubai three years ago, and yet so different. Knowing what could be, is a good and a bad thing, one could say. It makes us very excited about the future but also a little impatient in how we will get there.
Just like Dubai, Abu Dhabi is off to a good start, with few extremely enthusiastic riders, who were literally waiting for this to happen. But they are a handful, and we wish to reach more riders – those who might have never considered camel riding could be a hobby.
We brought 5 camels with us: Drive, Jebel Ali, Shaheen, Sogan and Mashour who are now here to teach riders the ropes.
Al Wathba tracks are set in a Sabkha, salt flats, which offers a nice central arena where everyone trains – mainly racing camels of course, and the odd group of Emiratis, and now – us.
We are extremely excited to be here and we are ready to teach our classes and lead our rides on a daily basis. Start your day early with the 5:30 AM class, just after sunrise, and enjoy a breezy morning, or meet us an hour before sunset, at 6:00 PM and we will ride until the sunset.

Why camels? You may ask. Why not, we are here in a Desert country, where camels feel at home, deal well with the temperatures, and are culturally deeply anchored. We got to appreciate their personalities and characters, and we truly feel the positive effect their calmness has on our own mind.
