Fort to Fort: A Virtual Camel Trek Across the Emirates:
After a successful inaugural virtual camel trek last summer, we are excited to launch the Fort to Fort Virtual Trek — a symbolic 150 km riding mission connecting two of the UAE’s most historic landmarks (virtually): Qasr Al Hosn in Abu Dhabi and Al Fahidi Fort in Dubai.
This virtual route celebrates endurance, heritage, and the spirit of exploration that has shaped the Emirates for generations. Along the journey, riders will virtually travel through desert corridors, historic regions, and landscapes that once connected communities long before modern highways and skylines existed.
The mission runs from 15th May until 15th August, giving participants approximately three months to complete the full 150 km distance.
Weekly Target
To successfully complete the mission within the timeframe, riders should aim for approximately:
- 12–13 km per week or
- Around 50 km per month
For many riders, this can easily be achieved through regular ADCRC riding sessions and morning track rides.
We will celebrate the completion of the distance with a visit to Al Fahidi Fort in August.
How it works
All distances ridden during your normal camel riding activities can count toward the mission distance.
Your ridden kilometers can be logged against the virtual route between the two forts on the mission map.
Once registered through the signup link and the My Virtual Mission portal, participants will be added to a dedicated WhatsApp group to:
- Coordinate riding times
- Track progress
- Join optional group rides
- Share updates and milestones
Last year, virtual trek participants typically rode at 5:00 AM to complete the full track loop of approximately 16 km before the heat of the day.
At the conclusion of the trek, participants who complete the mission will gather for a special visit to Al Fahidi Fort followed by a group dinner in Old Dubai, celebrating the successful completion of the journey together. This mission is more than a distance challenge — it is an opportunity to ride with purpose, connect with the landscapes and history of the UAE, and become part of a community moving together across the Emirates, one kilometer at a time. The official launch is on 15th of May but you are welcome to join at a later stage as well. |
