The C1 Championship Carnival is the flagship race day series — a pioneering camel racing competition designed specifically for human jockeys and developed to make the sport accessible, structured, and internationally competitive.
Founded as a grassroots pathway into professional camel racing, the series combines heritage with modern sport principles, welcoming riders from diverse nationalities and backgrounds while maintaining strong animal welfare standards.
Now in its fifth season, the Championship has grown into the world’s only multi-race series of its kind, featuring both women’s and men’s categories and attracting participants from across the Middle East, Europe, Asia, and beyond. What began as a small initiative to train new riders has evolved into a recognized platform for talent development, producing athletes capable of competing at national and international levels.
Each Carnival event consists of multiple races across different distances, with the signature 1200-meter race.
Riders accumulate points based on finishing positions at every race day, creating a season-long leaderboard rather than a single winner-takes-all format. This structure rewards consistency, and strategy, — as jockeys must build partnerships across owners, trainers, and camels, manage pacing, and perform across several months.
Beyond the competition itself, the Carnival is designed as a spectator-friendly celebration of desert sport and culture. Visitors can experience camel racing up close in a safe, welcoming environment, learn about the animals and traditions behind the sport, and witness the emergence of a new generation of camel athletes.
At its core, the C1 Championship Carnival represents a bridge between heritage and the future — preserving the spirit of camel racing while opening the arena to a global community of riders and fans.
